The LDP city council of the Kagoshima City Council has been purchasing magazines published by an organization affiliated with the former Unification Church of Japan for a year and a half with its political activity funds.
According to the LDP City Council, the LDP City Council purchased a magazine published by an organization affiliated with the former Unification Church for a year and a half from October 2020 to March 2022, using their political activity funds.
The total amount of the political activity expenses paid was 16,200 yen, and a member of the Diet requested to subscribe to the magazine, which was accepted by the faction.
The councilor who offered the subscription denied any involvement with the former Unification Church and told KTS, "It is natural for me to read various magazines and do social research, but now I wish I had not taken the subscription.
Shuichi Kariya, leader of the LDP city council, also commented, "In the future, I would like to be cautious about the use of political activity expenses.
The LDP City Council has been working on the issue of a group affiliated with the former Unification Church, and in 2020 and 2021, six council members participated in related events.
